What did Andy Runey think of the Presidential debate last Tuesday,Not much.
安迪·努尼是怎么看待上周二总统竞选辨论呢？简单地说一下。
Andy: Let me begin tonight by saying as nice and sweet as I know how,that I thought last Tuesdays debate between Al Gore and George Bush stunk.It was about as exciting as synchronized swimming at the Olympics.Right from the beginning they irritated me.coming in Gore threw a kiss to Tippa,well it wasn't really for her it was for us,what he was saying was he's not Bill Clinton.I wasn't impressed because no public display of affection ever convinces me that a guy loves his wife.They started out with a lot of talk about Medicate and Medicare.

Al Gore: The governor has described Medicare as A Government H.M.O.

George Bush: My plan sets aside 3.4 trillion dollars for Medicare of the next ten years.

Andy: All I know about health insurance is we all want to live for ever and it's not going to happen.It's my personal opinion that we have too many health plans and not enough doctors.I never thought this would happen to me but the debate started at nine and by nine thirty I was hoping there would be a commercial,a good commercial would have been a relief at that point.They were limited to how long they could speak so Gore got in on Bushes time with facial expressions,made it clear to us that he didn't agree, Bush had some little gestures of his own.They both had done too much rehearsing and it came of fake and contrived.Do you think he just thought of that word ,Gore referred to "locked boxes" several times?
安迪：关于健康保险，我所知道的就是我们所有的人都想永世长存，但这是不可能发生的。以我个人的观点，我们有太多的健康计划，却没有足够的医生。我从没想到我会碰上这种事，但今天这个辨论却从9：00开始，到了9：30我就盼着那时会有一个广告，一个好的商业广告能够缓解一下紧张气氛，他们都尽可能表现把说话时间拉长，因此在布什说话期间，戈尔插话进来，并带有丰富的面部表情，以此想证明他不同意布什的观点，而布什就有了一些自己的不手势，他们都做了太多的演练，而实际上都是装腔作势。他只想到了那个词吗？戈尔几次提到“上了锁的匣子”。
Al Gore: An iron clad locked box.Locked box.Locked box.

Andy: What's that all about ,Bush was hung up on "fussy man".
安迪：说这么多是什么意思了？说明布什成天用着“哗众取宠的人。”
George bush: It's Fussy Man.
乔治·布什：一个哗众取宠的人。
Andy: Gore seems to think the Rich are at the bottom of all our troubles.
安迪：在戈尔看来，富人都是我们一切麻烦的源头。
Al Gore: He spends more money for tax cuts for the wealthiest one percent.
艾尔·戈尔：他花更多的钱为那占全国人口1%的最富有的人削减税收。
Andy : I think the rich probably do more for the country than the poor.They both drop names of unknown little people they thought made them sound like nice guys.

Al Gore: Like Winifred Skinner from Demount Island.

Andy: So phony.They both thought using the name of the moderator made them sound friendly.

George Bush: I might want to say something Jim.

Al Gore: Yes ,Jim.

Andy: The only thing it made me think was that Jim might make a better president than either one of them.
