It Gives Me Goose Bumps
Lesson 3 Key Conversation It Gives Me Goose Bumps
Jeremy: Hey! Get a look at that! It must be a couple hundred years old. It looks scary even in broad daylight.
Stanley: It is… You're looking at the oldest building in the area. It was first built as a library. Then it became a hospital during the Civil War and, after that, an insane asylum.
Most recently it housed the Sherriff's office and the jail. It's supposed to be haunted.
Jeremy: Is that right? I've never heard a single word about it.
Stanley: I think the municipality organizes tours, and you can even spend the night inside for $40. Lots of people claim to have seen and heard strange things. Their stories make my hair stand on end.
Jeremy: Just hearing you talk about it gives me goose bumps. How can you be as cool as a cucumber? Have you ever been inside? Shall we go in, maybe stay overnight?
Stanley: No to both questions. And I don't want to spend good money to visit an old, dilapidated building, much less spend the night. Just calm down and take it easy.
Jeremy: Oh, c'mon! Sounds like fun. Don't be a spoil sport.
Stanley: For heaven's sake! You're as white as a ghost. OK, OK, go if you really want to, but count me out. I've got much better things to do on a Saturday night!
