Leaders meet at BRICS summit in Durban

Coming from near and far.South African President Jacob Zuma welcomed his counterparts from other BRICS countries for the summit's grand opening.
In a meeting with Russian President Vladmir Putin, Zuma highlighted the importance of the meeting.

Putin responded that Russia is also looking for opportunities to work with South Africa.

Earlier, Zuma and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to further boost relations and to make their bilateral partnership a strategic focus of their respective foreign policies.

China hopes to build a relationship with South Africa that will be a model for both the development of China-Africa strategic partnerships and showing solidarity between large developing countries.
