More H7N9 infections confirmed in China
全国感染禽流感病例达60 死亡13例
That’s the latest developments in the bird flu situation in China. The virus has now moved to central China's Henan province, with first two H7N9 infections reported Sunday in the province. This comes one day after Beijing, the country’s capital located further north of Henan, confirmed its first case.
Before Henan and Beijing, infections were limited to eastern China. Shanghai reported 3 new infections Sunday, bringing its total number to 24. Zhejiang Province reported 4 new cases Sunday, for a total of 15 so far. Jiangsu Province also confirmed 2 new infections Sunday, totaling 16 so far. And Anhui Province has a total of 2 confirmed cases.
In all, 60 infections have been reported in China so far. With two new deaths reported in Shanghai Sunday, the deathtoll in the country now stands at 13. Experts warn that as the weather gets warmer, migratory birds are flying back north, which could lead to a rise in infections in other parts of China.
