Fruitvale Station (originally titled Fruitvale) is a 2013 American independent drama film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. It is based on the true story of Oscar Grant, a young man who was killed by police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Oakland, California Fruitvale rapid transit station.
The film tells the story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, and his experiences on the last day of his life, before he was fatally shot in the early morning hours of New Year's Day 2009.
