《奥德赛》Odyssey
Mark C. Literature is a powerful agent for progress. By reading the stories of how innovative goals help characters in books, people can transfer that to their lives Creativity as a way to set and achieve goals is prevalent in The Odyssey. Odysseus, the protagonist of the epic poem, has as his paramount goal to get home, but he has mammoth obstacles. Never losing sight of his goal, Odysseus uses his creative mind to get himself out of dangerous situations. Cleverly, he escapes Scylla, the six headed monster, Charbdis, a dangerous whirlpool, and the deadly irresistible Sirens. Probably Odysseus makes the most progress towards his goal by cunningly escaping the Cyclopes, Polyphemus. Trapped in the giant's cave. Odysseus gets Polyphemus drunk and tells him that his name is "Nobody." When Odysseus stabs the Cyclopes in the eye and the other Cyclopes comes to help, Polyphemus shouts, "Nobody is killing me." Thinking he is not in danger the other Cyclopes go away. Odysseus then escapes by clinging to a sheep''s belly as it walks out of the cave. With Odysseus' never-ending determination to reach his goal, he survives and returns home.
点评:这是一段对奥德赛偶遇独眼巨人的细腻而流畅的描述,这一句写得极好;“Odysseus then escapes by clinging to a sheep's belly as it walks out of the cave.” 如果说到细节描述,这篇文章写得非常好。Mark 还提到了 Scylla 这个六头怪和 Charbdis, 用来增加文章的深度。这是一段非常棒的叙事段落。
