Steve Saunders
Mallory L. We see creativity lead into progress in the world of pop culture. In the creation of the bass line for Michael Jackson's hit “Billie Jean,” Steve Saunders, one of the top engineers for the Yamaha X80 keyboard, was asked to create a sound that sounded like "someone was strumming the cables of the Golden Gate bridge.” He and another top engineer for the Yamaha X80, Sean Vanduren, successfully created this sound in 1983, after toying with their keyboards for hours on end. After its creation, “Bille Jean” rocked the charts and the same exact sound has been used in hundreds, if not thousands, of other songs since the idea was first implemented on the Yamaha keyboard in 1983. Hence, one sound lead to a plethora of new ones and new technology, further proving that progress follows creativity.

就像Josh写的关于George Beauchamp的那段一样,Mallory在她的例子段中直接从流行音乐的技术核心来写,使读者从技术这个角度对音乐制作有了一种别
样的认识与理解,令人耳目一新。
