5% of Chinese students return after overseas study

In 2014, 459,000 Chinese students went abroad—almost 46,000 more than in 2013. Many more of these students are now coming back home to pursue their career.
In 2014, more than 364,000 returned— an increase of 3.2 percent from the year before.
The US remains the top destination for Chinese students, followed by the UK, Australia, Japan and France.
Since the opening-up of the country in 1978, a total of 3.5 million Chinese have studied overseas, including more than 1 million studying abroad today. And 1.8 million of them have returned, accounting for nearly 75 percent of the total number.
