Juyongguan
居庸关
Juyongguan lies to the northwest of Changping County,Beijing. The term juyong,appearing first in The Spring and Autumn Annals of Mr Lu of the Warring States Period,was attached to this pass during Qin Shi Huang’s time.
居庸关位于北京昌平县西北。居庸这个词,首先出现在春秋战国时期,在秦始皇的时候这个关口得名。
In the Han Dynasty it was called Juyongguan,in the Three Kingdom’s period the West Pass,in Northern Tax Pass,in the Tang Dynasty Juyongguan Pass,Jimen Pass or Jundu Pall.
汉代沿称居庸关,三国时代名西关,北齐时改纳款关,唐代有居庸关、蓟门关、军都关等名称。
All through Liao, Kin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties to the present day it has been called Juyongguan.

The castle of this important pass of the Great Wall was built in 1368 (the beginning of the Ming Hong Wu reign) by Xu Da,one of the military commanders who assisted Emperor Hong Wu (named Zhu Yuangzhang) to found the Ming Dynasty. It has been renovated many times afterwards.
