China urges Japan to read UN Charter carefully
中国要求日本研读联合国宪章
China has called for Japan to "stop wasting time and energy" in making complaints over the attendance of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at last week's military parade in Beijing.
China's foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said at a regular press briefing that the United Nations was created as an outcome of the World Anti-Fascist War and Anti-militarism. Hong said it's also important to prevent history from repeating itself.
"On issues commemorating the victory over fascism, how can you ask the UN to stay neutral. We urge the specific country to stop being unreasonable or wasting their time and energy. Instead, they should read the UN Charter carefully, reflect upon history of aggression and make tangible moves to win the trust of Asian neighbors and the international community," Hong Lei said.
