Beijing will enhance the protection of its historical and cultural heritage as well as old town and try to restore the "one axis, one line" landscape, according to the cultural relics work conference of the city held recently.

据近日举行的北京市文物工作会议介绍，北京将加大历史文化遗产保护力度，加强老城整体保护，恢复“一轴一线”魅力景观。

北京将恢复（restore）“一轴一线”魅力景观（landscape），加强老城整体保护（strengthen the integrated conservation of its old town），加快实施故宫（Palace Museum）、天坛（Temple of Heaven）、钟鼓楼（Bell and Drum Towers）等地区传统风貌（traditional looks）保护（conservation），加强“三山五园”（"Three Hills and Five Gardens"）历史文化景区（historical scenery）保护利用，编制实施长城文化带（Great Wall culture belt）、西山文化带（Western Hills culture belt）和运河文化带（Grand Canal culture belt）保护利用（utilization）规划。
北京市市长蔡奇近日就北京城市中轴线（Central Axis）保护和申遗工作（application for world heritage）进行调研（inspection and study）。他表示，要统筹保护好北京丰富的历史文化遗产（rich historical and cultural heritage），进一步提升全国文化中心（national cultural center）建设水平。
作为北京老城主体，东城区未来将打造南锣鼓巷、东四三条至八条等6片传统文化精华区（traditional culture areas），到2020年，历史文化街区（historical and cultural blocks）整体修缮（renovate）更新整治率将达到80%；西城区将力争实现一批重大文物建筑特别是纳入文物（cultural relics）登记的会馆（guild halls）和名人故居（former residences of celebrities）腾退（vacate）亮相。
国家文物局局长刘玉珠表示，国家文物局将在北京城市副中心（sub-center）建设、冬奥会文物保护、文物保护项目（cultural heritage protection projects）立项等方面进一步加大支持力度。
