A man who injured four people in a knife attack at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital in January last year was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve on Tuesday for intentional homicide and deprived of his political rights for life.

去年1月，北京朝阳医院发生持刀伤人案，致4人受伤，行凶男子因故意杀人罪被判处死刑，缓期两年执行，剥夺政治权利终身。

北京市第三中级人民法院审理后查明，被告人崔振国因其眼睛治疗效果未达其预期（eye treatment failed to meet his expectations），对朝阳医院眼科医生（ophthalmologist）陶勇等诊治医生心生怨恨（resentful），伺机报复。
2020年1月20日13时50分许，崔振国持事先准备的菜刀进入朝阳医院门诊楼七层，趁正在为患者检查的医生陶勇不备，砍击陶勇的后脑部、颈项部（attacked the back of Tao's skull and his neck），后继续追砍（chased after）陶勇至其他楼层，过程中又将陶勇手臂砍伤，并先后将阻拦其行凶的其他三人砍伤。
北京三中院审理后认为，被告人崔振国以非法剥夺他人生命为目的（intended to illegally deprive others of their lives），持刀故意砍击他人（intentionally hacked others with a knife）要害部位，造成一人重伤（serious injury）、一人轻伤（minor injuries）、二人轻微伤（slight injuries），其行为已构成故意杀人罪。
本案虽系杀人未遂（attempted murder），且崔振国作案后让他人报警（call the police）并在现场等候，可视为自首（give himself up），但考虑到其在人员众多的医疗公共场所公然持刀追砍行凶（chase and slash victims in a public medical place），手段残忍（used cruel means），造成的后果特别严重（resulting in serious consequences），社会影响极其恶劣（extremely bad social impact），人身危险性极大，不足以对其从轻处罚（give him a lenient sentence），依法应予严惩。
目前陶勇医生已复工（back at work），但由于手臂受伤，他将永远无法再进行眼科手术（never be able to perform eye surgeries again）。
上个月底，一名38岁的心脏科医生（cardiologist）遇刺后身亡（stabbed to death），国家卫健委发声强烈谴责针对医务人员的暴力犯罪（violent crimes targeting medical personnel）。
江西省吉水县人民医院心内科医生胡淑云在病房查房（doing ward rounds）过程中突遭歹徒持刃袭击受伤，因伤势过重，抢救无效，于1月27日凌晨去世。嫌疑人为43岁男子曾某，目前案件仍在调查中（the case is still under investigation）。
1月27日，国家卫健委发表声明，呼吁社会各界（all sectors of society）齐心协力（make concerted efforts），关心爱护医务人员，切实保护医务人员人身安全（effectively protect the safety of medical personnel），共同维护正常医疗秩序（maintain medical order），保障医患双方合法权益（protect the rights and interests of doctors and patients）。
一周前，全国人大常委会审议了修订执业医师法（the law on medical practitioners）的议案，该议案旨在为医师营造更加安全稳定的工作环境（create a safer and more stable working environment）。
草案规定，阻碍医师依法实施诊疗行为（obstructing doctors from carrying out diagnosis and treatment），侮辱、诽谤、威胁、殴打医师（insulting, slandering, threatening or assaulting doctors）或者侵犯医师人身自由（infringing on doctors' personal freedom）、干扰医师正常工作、生活（interfering with their normal work and life），扰乱医疗卫生机构秩序（disturbing the order of medical and health institutions），构成违反治安管理行为的，依照治安管理处罚法的规定处罚；构成犯罪的，依法追究刑事责任。
