China's air pollution crisis
中国"大雾霾"事件
Air quality in Beijing, a city of around 20 million people, has mostly stayed above very unhealthy and hazardous levels since the beginning of this year. Thick, off-the-scale smog shrouds eastern China, forcing airlines to cancel flights because of poor visibility and prompting Beijing to temporarily shut factories and curtail fleets of government cars.
在这座容纳着约两千万人口的大都市，北京，年初时候的空气质量却处在一个非常不健康甚至于危险的水平之上。浓厚，且规模巨大的雾霾笼罩在中国东部上空，因为大气的低可见度，雾霾迫使航空公司取消航班，也促使了北京暂时关闭一些工厂和削减政府公务汽车的用度。
