The 84-year-old aristocrat spoke no-holds-barred, even saying the late Princess of Wales was 'spiteful' toward her ex-husband, Prince Charles.
Though Princess Diana was the ‘People’s Princess,’ Lady Pamela Hicks said she was ‘spiteful’ and ‘unkind’ to her royal family.
"She had enormous charisma, she was beautiful, she was very good at empathy with the general crowd ... and she had no feeling at all for her husband or his family," the Queen’s former lady-in-waiting, Lady Pamela Hicks, said in a new interview with Vanity Fair.
"She made everybody believe she'd been thrown to the wolves. Such nonsense … Instead, she wanted to listen to her music and go disco-ing or to some jive concert … She reckoned she was the star."
"She was really spiteful, really unkind to him - and, my God, he's a man who needs support and encouragement," she tells the magazine.
"[The marriage] absolutely destroyed him. He looked grey and ghostlike."
Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced in 1996 after 15 years together and the birth of two sons, Princes William and Harry.Now, with the Prince of Wales happily remarried to Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles.
