Up to 1,200 students in Wuhu, Anhui province will have to resit the English listening test of the National College Entrance Exam after broadcast devices at a school malfunctioned and continued squeaking during the exam on Monday. Candidates at the Tianjiabing Experimental Middle School said the noise made the test "totally unintelligible."
8日，安徽芜湖田家炳实验中学考点的高考英语听力播放设备出现故障，不断发出"吱吱"的声音，有考生称，杂音致使英语听力"完全听不清楚"。
Local authorities confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the Ministry of Education has agreed that students would be given a second chance, but the time of the new test will be publicized later.
芜湖市政府9日下午表示，教育部已经同意将对该考点1200多名考生的英语听力重考，但是具体的时间要等教育部的通知。
