A Hello Kitty-themed Taroko Express train made its inaugural run in Taiwan last Monday.
台湾一趟以Hello Kitty为主题的太鲁阁号列车于上周一首次运行。
The train has make its first run on a round trip from Taipei to Taitung, according to the Taiwan Railways Administration.

The design concept of the Hello Kitty train is "To connect world and Taiwan with Hello Kitty". The 8 carriage are designed as Taiwan, Asia, Oceania, Europe, Africa, America and North and South pole, and then back to Taiwan.
Hello Kitty彩绘列车以“跟着Hello Kitty连结台湾与世界”为设计理念,8节车厢设计成由台湾出发,周游亚洲、大洋洲、欧洲、非洲、美洲、南北极后,再回到台湾。
The train was installed with a total of 376 headrest covers with Hello Kitty patterns printed on them. But when the train finished its round trip from Taipei to Taitung on Monday, the train attendants found that all but 48 headrest covers were stolen.
该列车共配有376条印有Hello Kitty图案的枕巾。而列车当天完成从台北至台东的往返运行时,乘务员发现只剩下48条枕巾,其余全部被偷。
Each headrest cover cost some NT$50. The estimated loss totaled about NT$16,000.

The train company said it prepared 120 extra covers just in case but did not expect that 328 pieces, or more than 87%, would be stolen on the train's maiden trip.
