The World Bank predicts that the global economy will grow 3.1% this year, which would be its best showing in seven years.

The World Bank upgraded its global growth forecast for 2018 by 0.3 percentage point.

"2018 is on track to be the first year since the financial crisis that the global economy will be operating at or near full capacity," said the World Bank.

It is also forecasting solid growth of 3% in 2019 and 2.9% in 2020, after 3% expansion in 2017.

The World Bank also upgraded its forecast for China's economic growth in 2018. It expected the economy to grow 6.4% in 2018, 0.1 percentage point higher than its June's forecast.

The growth will moderate to 6.3% in 2019, as China will continue to rebalance its economy and credit growth is expected to decelerate.
