A team of mountaineers from Peking University reached the top of the world's highest mountain in celebration of the university's 120th anniversary.
近日,北京大学登山队成功登上世界最高峰的峰顶,以庆祝北大建校120周年纪念日。
Fourteen climbers -- seven students from the Mountaineering Association of Peking University, two teachers and five alumni -- made it to the top of Qomolangma.
成功登顶珠穆朗玛峰的14名队员中,包括了来自北大山鹰社的七名学生、两名教师和五名校友。
The youngest was 21 and the oldest 55. They had trained rigorously for two years for their climb to the summit.
其中最年轻的21岁,最年长的55岁。登珠峰前,他们已经严格训练了两年。
Established in 1989, the association has become the most prominent amateur mountaineering club in China.

PKU alumnus Huang Nubo, who led the team, said reaching the summit of the mountain was not the only goal.
登山总指挥、北京大学校友黄怒波说,登顶不是唯一的目标。
"It's more important to focus on how the team overcomes difficulties when climbing high, which reflects the spirit of the university," he said.
他表示:“更重要的是团队在攀登高峰时如何克服困难,这体现了北大的精神。”
