Deadline reports that Elementary will end after its upcoming 13-episode season.

This news comes one week after the show reportedly wrapped shooting for Season 7.

Apparently the renewal for the show's seventh season came with the understanding that it would be the series' last, so those pesky loose ends will be tied up when it all comes to an end.

"A lot of parties came together and talked about their positions on the show — both in terms of business and in terms of creative — and we all decided that this was an opportune time to say goodbye to a show that has been very, very good to us," said CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl.

In addition to a stellar final run, we can also apparently look forward to a bit of a time jump in Season 7, says creator and showrunner Rob Doherty.

"Something that I knew I wanted to do was move forward in time a bit with the characters by the very end," Doherty said, hinting that they took some inspiration for Season 7 from the books.

"There was a period when Sherlock and Watson were not together, they went down very different paths, and their lives were very different from having been apart.
