新托福听力Detail (Organize Your Notes!)
You’re listening to a four minute lecture on measuring thedistance between stars in an astronomy class and your paperhas filled up so you’re finding extra spaces somewhere to keeptaking notes. It seems like you’re doing well because you’regetting it all down on paper, but when the questions come, nothing seems to make sense anymore. How could this havehappened? You didn’t organize your notes while taking themdown. Notes need to be two things. The first thing is an abbreviated or shortened form of whatyou’ve listened to and secondly, they need to be organized as best as possible during the process. How do you organize? As soon as you hear certain signals, you will know what to do. For example, when you hear the speaker mention the phrase "three types", you should immediately go acrossyour notes or down the side with the numbers 1, 2, and 3. Some people divide their paper intosections before the test or even fold their note paper a few times to create boxes that they canput separate pieces of information in as they listen. Practice putting your notes in order as youwrite them and you should be able to capture the details in your notes.
