Answer:
With the development of technology, electronic books become much more popular. Even in some certain schools, students are required to take pad with them to attend classes. So many people hold on an opinion that students will no longer use printed books. In spite of that, I disagree with this statement for printed books have its advantages what electronic books are unable to displace.
Long time utilizing electronic books for reading is bad to people’s eyes, so I believe used printed books should not be replaced completely. Take myself for example, when I prepared for my GRE test, I used computer every day to read information what I have downloaded freely from internet. I am uncap able to stare at the screen of computer for a long time without any rest. Actually, after a day’s study, my eyes become dry and ache. An official survey shows that the eyes of people who are engaged in career what need frequently use computer are worse than that of people who do not have to. Consequently, I prefer to use printed books to protect my eyes.
In addition, reading on electronic books is less efficient than on the printed books. As far as I am concerned, through printed book I can spend one week in finishing reading a novel-named Little Price, however, I must take two weeks to accomplish reading the same novel when I read on my pad. It does not mean that I have little time to read this novel in second situation, it means that electronic books could not attract me and let me distract easily. I have thought that maybe I was a specular example. When I asked lots of my friends about their efficiency if they read on the electronic books, the answers are all similar to my answer.
While several people may state that using electronic books should be more environmental, electronic tools must exhaust a large amount of electricity. I have read a newspaper in China indicates that most of electricity is produced by burning fuel, which may bring numerous pollutant to our surrounding. What is more, fuels are energy what want to be reproduce must spend tens of thousands of years. Nevertheless, we begin to figure out new and environmental energy to substitute fuels. Similarly, we also can try to discovery innovated materials to supplant paper to be used to produce books. Under this situation, it is unnecessary to reduce or eradicate number of printed books because of protection of environment.
To put all into a nutshell, whether for the eyes of people or the efficiency of reading, printed books is displaced. I admit that a great number of production of paper books is not a good way to protect our environment, I believe human beings can further utilize their intelligence to find out a better method which can be not only good for students’ reading but also good to our planet.
