US cheerleaders help perfect Olympic cheer squad
The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games has enlisted the help of US cheerleaders to perfect the dance moves and smiles of the Olympic cheer squad.
As August 8th draws near, the carefully selected Olympic cheer squad is hard at work. The New England Patriots Cheerleading Squad is helping them polish their moves and practice their lines to ensure that audiences at the Beijing Olympic games feel the Olympic spirit.
The cheer squad, composed of 600 volunteers chosen from professional institutions and selected by nationwide contests, are keeping their guests busy.
The New England Patriots cheerleading team has spent more than a week preparing the Chinese cheerleaders. During the daily 4-hour workshops, the young performers are not only learning new routines, but also how to smile and move with more passion and energy.
New England Patriots cheerleaders Lindsay and Angela said, "They pick them right up and we've seen them outside our windows at 6:30 in the morning practicing. They really, they just want to be here."
"I'm very impressed with their eagerness to learn and their ability to pick all the material we're giving them. And on top of that, they come in everyday with a smile on their face. They are extremely friendly to us. We couldn't ask for better students."
