电影《瓶中信》讲的是任职于芝加哥论坛报的专栏作家泰瑞莎在海边发现了一个埋在白沙中的玻璃瓶，瓶内装着一封属名G的信。泰瑞莎深深被信中G的真爱打动。这封信阴错阳差的被刊登在报纸上，并得到热烈的回响。于是她被指派去寻找这封信的主人。如其所愿，泰瑞莎遇见了帆船建造师盖瑞。盖瑞和画家妻子凯瑟琳感情甚笃。但自从凯萨琳因病过世后，盖瑞一直无法走出悲伤阴影。他原封不动的保留凯瑟琳生前的画笔和画布，只为每天回味、复习在一起时的感受。
