一.move：n. 移动，步骤，迁居，动作 vt. 推动，使移动，使 ... 感动 vi. 移动，搬家，采取行动
【词义辨析】
1.motion, move, movement,
motion: 指不处于静止状态而在移动的过程中，强调运动本身，而不涉及其动因。
move: 着重开始的行动或变化。
movement: 通常抽象地指有规则的动作或定向运动，特指政治性的运动。
2.move, shift, transfer, remove,
move: 普通用词，指从一处到另一处的任何距离的转移。
shift: 侧重位置与方向的改变。
transfer: 一般表示转送、移交或迁移，尤指交通运输中的换乘或职务的调动等。
remove: 作“移动”解时，与move可换用，还可指撤职或开除学藉等。
3.touch, inspire, move,
touch: 主要用于表示怜悯或同情等场合，侧重感动。
inspire: 指激起勇气和信心，侧重鼓励，有时含“启发灵感”之意。
move: 与touch可换用，但语气强一些，运用范围广些。
【例句用法】
1.The government's announcement is seen as a move towards settling the strike.
政府的通告已被视为迈向解决罢工问题的一步。
2.Public opinion was moving strongly in favor of disarmament.
公众舆论正在强烈支持裁军。
3.All the moves of the ballerina were graceful.

二.able：adj. 能够的，有能力的，能干的
【词义辨析】
able, capable, competent,
able: 最常用词，多用于褒义，着重指多方面的，经常性的，或潜在性的能力。有时也指高超、非凡的能力。
capable: 语气弱于able，指有能力、有潜力或有条件做某事，常与of连用。
competent: 强调具有能胜任某项工作的足够技能或其它所需的条件。
【词语用法】
able常以be able + 不定式的形式出现，与can 同义。
Some people are able to/can walk on their hands.
有些具体情况下只能用 be able，而不能用 can。
One day，scientists will be able to find a cure for cancer.
（NOT...will can find...)
后面的不定式通常不属于被动语态。
The mistake is able to be corrected.
该句应改作The mistake is capable of being corrected.
指能力时，不一定意味着实行，如“经过了两个月的步行，他们到达了目的地”通常不说 After a two-month tramp, they were able to reach their destination.而是用 After a two-month tramp they reached their destination。
【错句举例与错句分析】
错句：He told the Commons his objective was to ensure that the ceasefire was able to be turned into a permanent peace.
纠正：He told the Commons his objective was to ensure that the ceasefire could be turned into a permanent peace.
翻译：他告知众议院他的目标就是要确保停火能够带来永久的和平。
分析：有能力的，这个词只能用于有生命的人，而停火（ceasefire）停火不是人。
【例句用法】
1.Free will makes us able to choose our way of life.
自由的意志使我们可以选择自己的生活方式。
2.By no means was he able to handle it.
这件事他绝对没办法处理。
3.She bet me 20 that I wouldn't be able to give up smoking.
她和我打20英镑的赌，说我戒不了烟。
4.As I had plenty of money I was able to help her.
我钱很宽裕，能帮助她。
5.He is an able man.
他是一个能人。
