Eating the Loaves
吃面包
Soon the biggest boy came running back to the tent. "My loaf is not good!" he said in an angry voice to the Little Baker.
没过多久，大男孩跑回了帐篷，他生气地跟小面包师说：“我的面包不好吃。”
Is it not your own loaf? asked the Baker. "And did you not pick it out yourself and say that you wished to eat it alone?"
“那不是你自己的面包吗？”面包师问道，“不是你自已选的面包，说你想自己一个人吃吗？
Then all the others who had hurried away with the loaves, to eat them alone, came back.
这时候，所有拿着面包匆忙离开并独自吃的孩子都回来了。
We came for good bread! they cried. "These loaves are not good. See the boy there with all the little children.
“我们要吃好吃的面包！”他们嚷道，“这些面包不好吃。看那个和其他小孩坐在一起的男孩。
Their bread is much better than ours. Give us loaves like theirs."
他们的面包比我们的好吃。给我们像他们那样的面包。”
But the Baker only smiled and said, "You took your bread without thanks and without any thought of giving some of it to others.
但是，面包师只是笑笑说：“你们一声感谢都没说就拿走了面包，也没想到要把自己的面包分给别人一些。
I cannot change your loaves. Did you forget that these were Thanksgiving loaves? I shall come again next year. Then you can buy more wisely."

The little girl and the little lame boy sat eating their currant loaf happily together.

Then he folded his table and took down his little brown tent and packed them into his wagon and drove away.
