Not a word.
【PART THREE】
Good morning , everybody. Welcome to listen in to the programme on KeKe Radio in the morning. I'm Juliet. Last lesson we put "Not a word " into practice and today we are going to practice our listening ability and explain listening skills in detail.
The dialogue in real speak will be read three times and you'd better to make a dictation, trying to catch the liaisons , contraction and reduction. Here we go.
Mike : I've heard you started working for the CIA.
Jane: Yes, I have . But not a word to anyone.
Okay , how many have you caught? The detailed explanations are about to be given. We should pay attention to the following places.
The word said by Mike : heard-you ['hə:dju:] started ['sta:di] working for ['wə:ginfə]
The word said by Jane : I have [ai've] but [bət] not a ['notdə] word to ['wə:də]
So the dialogue in real speak is :
Mike : I've heard jou stardi worgin for the CIA.
Jane : Yes, I have. But nod a wor da anyone.
