The Changsha Intermediate People's Court held a closed-door trial on September 19 on the case involving GlaxoSmithKline China which was accused of offering bribes. Five former GSK senior executives, including British national Mark Reilly, were sentenced to suspended prison terms of two to three years. Reilly, former head of GSK China, will be forced to leave the country. Reilly and the other executives admitted the charges during the investigation, and the court said that led to lighter punishments. The fine is the biggest that a Chinese court has ever handed a company, said Cheng Baoku, a law professor at Nankai University in Tianjin.
