In this week's podcast, the country's largest property developer China Vanke announces it will offer majordiscounts for customers of the popular online retailer Taobao.

On the deepening of a housing downturn, China Vanke said it will slash home prices by up to 2 million yuanfor a one-month period. The partnership with the e-commerce site Taobao will allow Taobao users to receivediscounts on home purchases made in 12 cities from August 25 to the end of September. Taobao customers areeligible for price cuts equal to the total cost of their online purchases. An industry source told Caixin developers typically offer promotions during the peak season for home sales which lasts from September through October. Vanke's midyear report showed that revenues for the first half of this year dropped for the first time since 2010, by just over one percent.
