Buddhists say that there is only one certain way to break free from Samsara--to eliminate the desires, and the passions, and the distractions of everyday life.

Now, of course, that is very easy to say and it's very hard to do.

So over the centuries Buddhists have employed specific rigorous methods to break free from all of this,

from the troubles and the temptations of the real world, and to set themselves on the path to enlightenment, to Nirvana.

And that is the truly radical thing about the Buddha's example,

his belief that each and every one of us has the capacity to achieve liberation, to achieve our own enlightenment.

It took the Buddha years to arrive at this radical belief.

Ideas he developed through his own personal experience - in particular, an intense form of meditation.

And it is Buddhist meditation that I'm now going to experience in our next wonder of the Buddhist world.
