Now I'm gonna tell you something else about that study, the corollary to that study
There's a guy named Jeff Gordon at the University of St. Louis Missouri
who's really the king of microbiota and he spawned all these postdocs who have just graduated went down Stanford
They're around the country starting this right now
But what he's been using are these gnotobiotic mice which are mice that don't have bacteria in their intestine
So there's these great petri dishes in which you can inoculate different bacteria and see what happens
And what they found is that you can take these mice, they have terrible colonies in their intestine
and start to feed them well, put them on a diet from Burkina Faso
And within weeks, things start to change
It's not necessarily that it gets perfect again
We might be born with a certain fingerprint from our mothers and that might the kind of what we go back to
And there is actually a whole lot of research going on now about obesity and relationship to bacterial microorganisms
But you can change it. It's modifiable even within weeks
So as you're eating that horrible meal, think of all those Firmicutes that are like giving each other high fives in your gut
And then you go and you eat something really wonderful and some of the meals that I described and you can start to bring those Bacteroidetes back
Yes, Blue zone. I'm gonna confess it. I actually never...
I mean I'm very familiar with that because I'm always being told that
these sounds like blue zone, but blue zone is sort of just people who are happy and healthy and live well and so on
Yes absolutely
