He saw below him his own image; but he was no longer a clumsy, dark, gray bird, ugly and ungainly. He was himself a swan!

It does not matter in the least having been born in a duckyard if only you come out of a swan's egg!

只要你是一只天鹅，就算你是生在养鸭场里也没有什么关系。

He felt quite glad of all the misery and tribulation he had gone through;

对于他过去所受的不幸和苦恼，他现在感到非常高兴。

he was the better able to appreciate his good-fortune now, and all the beauty which greeted him.

The big swans swam round and round him, and stroked him with their bills.

Some little children came into the garden with corn and pieces of bread, which they threw into the water;

and the smallest one cried out: "There is a new one!"

The other children shouted with joy: "Yes, a new one has come!"

别的孩子也兴高采烈地叫起来：“呀，又来了一只新的天鹅！”

And they clapped their hands and danced about, running after their father and mother.

于是他们拍着手，跳起舞来，向他们的爸爸和妈妈跑去。

They threw the bread into the water, and one and all said that "the new one was the prettiest; he was so young and handsome."

他们抛了更多的面包和糕饼到水里，同时大家都说：“这新来的一只最美！那么年轻，那么好看！”

And the old swans bent their heads and did homage before him.

那些老天鹅不禁在他面前低下头来。

He felt quite shy, and hid his head under his wing; he did not know what to think;

他难为情地把头埋到翅膀里面去，不知道怎么办才好。

he was so very happy, but not at all proud; a good heart never becomes proud.

He thought of how he had been pursued and scorned, and now he heard them all say that he was the most beautiful of all beautiful birds.

The lilacs bent their boughs right down into the water before him,

紫丁香在他面前把枝条垂到水里去。

and the bright sun was warm and cheering,

太阳温暖的照耀着一切。

and he rustled his feathers and raised his slender neck aloft, saying, with exultation in his heart:

他扇动翅膀，伸直细长的颈项，心里禁不住快乐的说道：

"I never dreamed of so much happiness when I was the Ugly Duckling!"
