Joan, your character is not only the Khan's wife but she's basically his most trusted advisor. What would you say that she means to him and what does he mean to her?

I think he is her world. I think everything she does it comes out of that love, the most important thing, the son and the husband to her.

She is mother for a nation. She does give him good advice but everything comes out of that love.

Yeah, I would have killed them all in today in this life, probably killed the husband too. No, it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. But anyway in that world in that time that's a way of life.

But your character becomes entangled in a romance with Marco, which is sort of forbidden, right? I mean what can you say about her character and that aspect of their relationship?

Well, Kokachin is the Blue Princess of Bayaut tribe and I think the connection between her and Marco at the very beginning was you know she was kept as a guest because she's from another tribe.

But she's a princess and Marco is a prisoner. But sometimes a guest and a prisoner in a court like Kublai Khan could be you know similar. It could be not that different from each other.

So I think she has the connection to him and she feel compassion for him almost. I think for Kokachin she couldn't care less about a good-looking Italian boy.

But the connection really caught her and then they started to observe each other. And then you know there's certain connections, certain chemistries when you meet somebody.

And that magic, that magnet, you really cannot do anything about it and that's where she I think hopelessly fall in love with somebody that she shouldn't.

Yeah I mean, is this a dangerous relationship for both of them?

Well I think it's dangerous because both of them is kind of trying to survive in this crucial world and love is probably too luxury for them.
