The snowstorms last month have greatly hurt tourism in 17 regions in southern China. Travel agencies and airline companies are reducing their prices to attract travelers.
Zheng Hong, president of a travel agency based in southern China's Guangdong province, explained why they have to use low prices to reverse the trend.
''During the Lunar New Year holiday, we had to cancel all railway trips to the areas affected by snow, including Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou. We barely earned anything during that period.''
Airline companies are also offering huge discounts to passengers leaving for snow-hit regions, and the biggest discount has reached 70 percent off.
Meanwhile, some famous attractions, including the Huang Guoshu waterfall in Guizhou province, are providing free tickets to travelers.
So far, infrastructures in the scenery spots have been recovering smoothly. Most of the attractions are expected to reopen within a week.
