The 2008 China Fashion Week is to kick off next week. Many fashion companies are right now making their final selections for the ideal models to represent their brands.
Business insiders say competitive candidates are still needed and competition among female models is even fiercer this year as more new female faces appear for audition.
Wu Song the vice general manager of Modeline:
"For instance, a show only needs 15 to 20 models. But more than 200 girls will compete for those positions. The competition is extremely intense."
About one hundred foreign models have also joined this year's competition, hoping for exposure.
The general manager of Absolute Fashion, Christian Brunner, says the competition in the model business reflects the growing number of overseas companies wanting to enter the Chinese market.
Christian Brunner said he believes that Beijing will be the next fashion center in the world in near future.
"In ten years I am sure it will be Beijing after New York, Paris and Milan."
