Qingming Festival has been designated as a public holiday beginning this year, but traffic problems stemming from the holiday could stop many mourners in their tracks.
In Beijing, more than one million people are expected to visit 70 cemeteries in and around the city during the three-day holiday to pay tribute to the dead.
The Beijing News has published a guide to ease traffic pressure. Over 20 special routes have been created to handle excess passengers.
Guide services are also available in some of the larger cemeteries, and medical services to handle emergencies are available around the clock in the cemeteries.
