Provincial officials in Sichuan say they will speed up the reconstruction process so people in the quake-hit areas can resume normal lives as soon as possible.
Li Chengyun is the deputy governor of Sichuan.
He says that Sichuan will finish checking up the conditions of the surviving buildings in the next three days.
"While ensuring that quake victims will have food to eat, clothes to wear, clean water to drink, and places to live in, we will also race against time to rebuild new villages, towns and counties in three years' time."
Officials also said that food and water supplies have been basically guaranteed in the region. The most difficult part is to better accommodate the victims, as it will take more time to rebuild homes for the displaced.
