Many Chinese companies and large-scale corporations are eagerly looking forward to a mass auction of over 7,000 pieces of furniture and household appliances that were used in the Media Village during the Beijing Olympics.
The items, which are currently being exhibited, will be auctioned off next Tuesday.
Zhou Huabo is an employee of an electronic company based in Beijing. He said his company is interested in buying the items and sent him to have a look.
"You know, they were used for the Olympics. Their quality is beyond doubt good. They look brand new even though they have been used. Moreover, the furniture and appliances are environmentally-friendly."
According to the auction company, the items will be divided into various groups.
Shen Yanbing, executive director of Zhong Hong Xin International Auction Company, explains that the items in each group can only be bought together.
"We have divided the items into sixteen groups, taking into consideration the potential buyer's budget, transportation costs and storage space. Each group consists of a set of furniture, but of different quantity."
Some "exciting" items, such as the bed of basketball star Yao Ming, and the music instruments used during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, will not be up for sale during the first round of auctions.
