China on Sunday continued to warn against blizzards, hiking the alert to its second-highest level over snowstorms that are expected to affect northern regions over the next few days.
On Sunday and Monday, heavy snow will hit central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern and western parts of Hebei Province, and most parts of Beijing, with some regions seeing snowstorms reaching 30 mm according the National Meteorological Center.
Meanwhile, Beijing authorities released a citywide orange alert and regional red alert concerning blizzards early on Sunday morning as a cold spell swept across northern China.
By Sunday morning, the capital had received an average daily precipitation of over 58 mm, a post-1951 record for the city during China's Nov.-March winter period.
Rescuers have retrieved the bodies of all six people trapped underground by a coal mine gas blast in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Thursday.
A total of eight people were working at the site when the accident happened Thursday morning.
One escaped without injuries, with rescuers pulling out another injured miner and sending him to a nearby hospital.
Local police have started investigating the case. People related to the illegal mining are under police custody.
