Hari Sreenivasan: Sutherland's Springs is in Wilson County Texas and Wilson County Commissioner, Ernest 'Sick' Hajek now joins me on the phone. Sir, tell me a little bit about this community about this church.

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: This is a very small community, it's not even incorporated town. It's just a very tiny community, a lot of agricultural places around, probably about seven miles from La Vernia, Texas which is a larger community.

Hari Sreenivasan: Did you know any of the people that were going to church there today?

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: I found out a couple of my friends were at the church. Yes.

Hari Sreenivasan: I'm very sorry in case any of your friends are injured. What does hearing this news do to you?

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: It's very heartbreaking. This is a major tragedy for the community. This was the last little community to think something like this will happen. My heart goes out to the community here -- all the victims and their families.

Hari Sreenivasan: I mean these are these sound like very small areas where people know each other and still talk to each other when they pass each other on the street.

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: Exactly. That's a perfect way to describe this community.

Hari Sreenivasan: Can you describe what you saw there when you were trying to help law enforcement out?

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: A lot of ambulances and helicopters. From where I stand the majority of people that died were inside the church. There were one or two on the outside. Just just very tragic.

Hari Sreenivasan: Do you know anything about who might have done this or some of the people that might be victims here?

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: From what I understand the personal that did this was from another community, probably in a 60 mile radius of our community here. We don't have a name yet. They're still processing that scene and trying to identify him at this time.

Hari Sreenivasan: Were other people in there?

Ernest 'skip' Hajek: They're in there at this time trying to identify everyone. We don't we don't have that information yet. This is going to be a very lengthy crime scene process because of the the enormity of it.
