The iconic sites of Seattle choked by a smoky haze. The needle there, I can barely see the top of it. Seattle's air quality today worse than Beijing. Blame it on a deadly wildfire season, smoke from over 100 large fires across the west spreading as far east as Ohio. I notice it when I take the mask off and I’m breathing that first breath. The air quality so dangerous, Seattle's mayor now warning everyone to stay indoors.
Ray Lopez isn't taking any chances. 22 years in the kayaking business and the air quality has never forced him to close up shop until now turning away customers and losing 10,000 dollars a day. It got to a point where no one should be breathing deeply and exercising. The good news, skies are expected to clear as early as tomorrow but experts have a dire warning. There is going to be hotter temperatures, the forests are going to be drier and we are gonna see more fires and all that smoke is gonna go somewhere. Relief just barely in sight while the future here remains hazy.
