Tonight tropical storm Gordon is drenching Florida and strengthening as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico. Beaches closed this holiday weekend under the threat of rip currents and storm surge. I didn't expect it to end up like this. I thought it was just gonna be outer bands, rain. Not like this. Gordon could become a hurricane by the time it makes landfall tomorrow night with the storm surge forecast to reach up to five feet in some areas. People from Mobile to New Orleans bracing for landfall.
Do not dismiss this, do not take this lightly, because it's a tropical storm or they get a category one. Right now another storm system is bringing flash flooding to the Midwest, first in the plains, now Chicago, grounding flights at O'Hare. Parts of the International Terminal flooding, the road to the airport under water. But tonight the biggest concern remains Gordon coming almost one year to the day hurricane Irma devastated so many lives.
