Cardinal George Pell will be sentenced in Melbourne in just a few hours time for sexually abusing two choirboys. Pell was found guilty of sexually abusing the boys at St Patrick's Cathedral after a Sunday mass in 1996, while he was archbishop of Melbourne. Pell is appealing against his conviction.
MP's in the United Kingdom as we’ve just seen have inflicted another humiliating defeat on British prime minister Theresa May's revised Brexit deal by a majority of 149. It means MPs now face a series of further votes with just over two weeks to go before March 29th — when Britain is due to exit the European Union.
European countries have now joined a growing list of nations to temporarily ground the Boeing 7-3-7 Max jet. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has also banned the aircraft from using Australian airspace, following the Ethiopian Airlines crash which killed 157 people. Both the US and Canada have not grounded it with US president Donald Trump tweeting 'airplanes are becoming too complex to fly'. In Ethiopia, grieving friends and relatives have visited the crash site, as investigations into the cause of the disaster continue.
Two women have been killed in a car crash in Sydney's south. The 66-year-old driver and her 62-year-old female passenger died at the scene. Two other passengers, a 62-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man are in a stable condition at St George hospital. The 20-year-old driver of the other car, believed to have been stolen, was arrested soon after, and is police custody.
