The US has joined the growing list of countries to ground Boeing's 737 Max jet, in the wake of the Ethiopian Airlines disaster which killed 157 people. The grounding ordered by US president Donald Trump comes after days of resistance from UA safety administrator. A few hours earlier, Canada joined nations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia in closing its airspace to the 737 Max.
British politicians have just voted against crashing out of the European Union without a deal. MPs voted narrowly by 312 to 308 for a non-binding amendment to reject a 'no-deal' Brexit. Politicians are now voting on another amendment from hardline Brexit MPs. A further vote is likely to be held tomorrow to decide whether Brexit should be delayed beyond March 29 — the date Britain is due to leave the European block.
An Australian woman, who joined the Islamic State terror group, has made a plea to come back home. The woman, who would not give her name, is believed to be Melbourne woman Zehra Duman who fled the is stronghold of Baghouz last month. She's now living in a refugee camp in Syria with her two young children. She says her six month old daughter is malnourished and needs treatment in hospital — and says she wants to do all she can for her children.
In Brazil, six children have been killed in a school shooting in Sao Paulo. Authorities say two hooded teenagers opened fire at the primary school, killing the students and two school administrators. The gunmen then killed themselves.
