2002年6月51题

此题存在because引导的原因状语从句，前面具体说明grouping的方式，如能看出从句中对grouping的重述则可得该句之关键词similar，此处构成同义的只有A选项(表由相同性质的部分组成的)。
2003年1月41题
Others viewed the findings with______, nothing that a cause-effect relationship between passive smoking and cancer remains to be shown.
A) caution B) passion C) optimism D) deliberation
此题好多同学不知cause-effect relationship为何物，于是束手无策，其实注意到现在分词结构当中宾语从句的谓语remains to be shown即可索解，既然是一种有待证明的关系，当然要以谨慎态度(caution)对待！(阅读中遇到长句难句，破解方式之一也是找谓语，这点一定要引起大家重视。)
2003年1月55题
In order to prevent stress from being set up in the metal, expansion joints are fitted which ________the stress by allowing the pipe to expand or contract freely.
A) reclaim B) reconcile C) rectify D) relieve
无数同学在这道题折戟沉沙，因为题干所述内容太过专业，看过后根本不知所云，但是如能注意到其中in order to引导的目的状语问题就解决了一半——目的既然是prevent stress，手段当然应该与之一致，而手段是在which引导的定语从句中由空格加stress表示的，于是找pre vent的同义词，此处只有D选项(减轻、缓解)可以胜任。
