G:What are you doing tonight? You should come to kick back with me and friends at bar.
J:I would if I could, but I have to write my term paper.
G:Oh, that sounds like fun.
J:Actually,it's not.
G:I was being sarcastic,come on.
J:what the mean to be sarcastic? Why are you Americans always sarcastic with everyone!
G:Being sarcastic is a way to describe the opposite of what something really means. Look,Americans usually joke a lot with each other, and Sarcastic is a common way to express humor.
J:O,if I hate dogs, I could say,I love dogs,right?
G:That's right,as long as emphasize the word "love" ,like "I love dogs".
J:Then can people know that's sarcastic? Isn't it easy for people to misunderstand your meaning?
G:Good point. You have to be careful,if people doesn't realize they're being sarcastic, you should immediately clear up that you don't mean what you said. Also,if you're sarcastic too much, then people may assure everything you say are out of sarcasm and won't take you seriously.
J:So I probably sure to blurt out sarcastic comment to the teachers and family, right?
G:Right, sarcasm should only be used at the close group of friends, they can handle your humor.
