In American English, "It's been ages" is another way of saying, "it's been a long time" or "a long time has passed" since you've seen each other.
在美语中，“It's been ages”（很多年）是“it's been a long time”（很长时间）和“a long time has passed”(过了很长时间)的另外一种表达方式。
You may remember the words "ages" being used to talk about different periods of history, like the ice age, stone age, or bronze age.
大家应该都知道“ages”可以用来表示各个不同的历史时代，比如冰川时代（the ice age），石器时代（stone age），铜器时代（bronze age）。
Saying "it's been ages" uses exaggeration by saying that it's been many of those long stretches of time since something has happened.
