I heard it was $10,000!
我听说花了一万美元！
Whoa! I don't think ANYTHING that is just going to sit on my hand is worth shelling out $10,000.
哇塞！我觉得我手上戴任何东西都不值得花费一万美元。
To "shell out" means to spend money.
“shell out”的意思是花一大笔钱。
It is mostly used when the amount of money involved seems too high for what you bought.
大部分情况下指你所花的钱远远超过你购买的物品的价值。
In our example, Jonathan thinks Dave spent too much money for a piece of jewelry.
在上面的例子中，乔纳森觉得戴夫花费太多钱买一件珠宝。
