frighten 恐吓，吓唬。在美式英语中用的比较少，在英式英语中日常常用
I'm sorry I didn't mean to frighten you. I didn't know you were still here. 不好意思我没想吓你。我不知道你还在这儿。
His temper frightens me. When he loses it, he looks like he's gonna hit somebody. 我被他的脾气吓到了。他发起火来就像要打人一样。
You scared the crap out of me. Don't sneak up on me like that. 你把我吓死了，不要悄悄的从后面吓我。
Your cat scares me. It hisses at me every time I'm over. 你的猫把我吓到了，每次我来它都冲我嘶嘶叫。
