Unit 3 A Dollar A Job
Last week was Dotlar-a-Job Week for the Cub Scouts.
The cubs call their neighbour.
'Have you got any jobs for us to do?'
they asked her. 'You can clean my balcony.
There's a lot of rubbish to throw away.'
The woman went away and came back with a brush,a pan and an old box.
'Here's a brush and pan for you to use and a box to put the rubbish she said.
They collected all the rubbish and put it in the box.
The job took them half an hour and the woman paid them $10.
Next, they called on a minibus driver.
'Can we do any jobs for you?' they asked him.'You can wash my minibus for me,'
he told them. 'Have you got a bucket we can use?'
He gave them a bucket of water.
'And here's an old cloth and some to wash the minibus with,' he said.
They washed the minibus until it was clean.
The driver was very pleased.
The job took them one hour but he only gave them $10.
'We've earned $20 today.That's enough,isn't it?'one of the cubs said.
The others agreed. They didn't want to work too hard!
