江西人感染H10N8禽流感病例患者已死亡
China has confirmed its first fatality from a new strain of bird flu infection in humans.
Health authorities in east China’s Jiangxi Province have said the H10N8 strain was responsible for the death of a 73-year-old woman in the province. She died on December the 6th.
The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed she died from the new strain of the bird flu. The woman had been in contact with live poultry. Her relatives who had been in contact with her have so far shown no abnormal symptoms.
Experts said the H10N8 virus existed among birds, but this is the first time it has been reported among humans.
China has already been dealing with the H7N9 bird flu virus. Over 130 cases of this virus have been confirmed since February. 45 people have died of H7N9.
